Welcome to the Korean Alphabet Seminar. Let’s start learning the Korean Alphabet(Hangeul) together. Are you ready? Hwaiting! Korean is made up of syllables, and each syllable consists of consonants and vowels. We’ll first learn about the sounds of consonants and vowels, and then explore how to combine them to read syllables. English and Korean are very different languages. So, if you try to learn the Korean alphabet by matching it to the English alphabet, it might make it harder to understand the sounds later. For example, the Korean consonant ㄱ sounds like something between ‘g’ and ‘k’ in English. If you use English letters to learn Korean, it might feel easy at first, but later, it can get very confusing. So, in this video, I won’t compare Hangul to English letters. Double Final Consonant - Korean Alphabet Seminar #8
Did you know that some Korean syllables have two consonants in the final position? These are called Double Final Consonants. When a syllable has two consonants in the final position, it’s usually the consonant on the left that is pronounced. However, there are cases where only the consonant on the right is pronounced instead. Rather than trying to memorize every case, it’s better to gradually learn and recognize them as you become more familiar with Korean and Hangul. For now, just knowing that this exists is enough.
