My Favorite Restaurant

삼겸살

Korean BBQ pork belly. It’s especially delicious when grilled together with kimchi. The best part is finishing the meal by frying rice on the hot grill with all the flavors.

솥밥

A Korean-style rice cooked in a small pot. You can add fish, meat, or vegetables on top and enjoy it together. At the end, the crispy rice stuck to the bottom of the pot becomes nurungji (scorched rice), which Koreans love to eat.

짜장면

A Korean-style Chinese noodle dish with black bean sauce. Sweet and sour pork (tangsuyuk) is also a perfect match. This restaurant is the most popular jjajangmyeon spot in my neighborhood, and sometimes people wait in long lines to eat here.

족발

This is a restaurant my family really loves, famous for its jokbal (Korean braised pig’s trotters). Even people who live in Seoul come all the way to our neighborhood just to eat here.
Jokbal is a traditional Korean dish made by simmering pork legs and feet for a long time in a soy sauce–based broth with various spices. The slow cooking makes the meat incredibly soft and tender, with a rich, savory flavor.

돈가쓰

A Japanese-style pork cutlet that has been adapted into a Korean version. This restaurant has been serving donkatsu for over 20 years. It’s a family favorite place we visit regularly.

코다리 - 생선

A perfect place for people who don’t eat meat. It comes with a wide variety of Korean-style side dishes, all with excellent quality. You can enjoy the fish together with many kinds of side dishes. This is one of the restaurants I often visit with my parents.

칼국수

Handmade knife-cut noodle soup served in a hot broth. It’s simple, hearty, and especially comforting on cold or rainy days.
